Day 16 - Doha , Shiny things

Image
According to Andrew, I get easily distracted with shiny things. You know, sparkly stuff whether it be glittery shoes, coloured metals, bedazzling mirrors,  jewels, oh yes definitely jewels.  Apparently, I will be on a set course of action and should a shiny thing appear in my peripheral I'm captured and off in that direction. Shiny direction ....... Some much detail  The purpose of this story is that even Andrew can succumb to shiny things. This was the case last night when we had dinner at this amazing restaurant at the Souk Waqif.  Parisa Restaurant, otherwise known to me as Shiny Heaven. Andrew noticed it from the street and called me over.  The entrance to this restaurant was amazing so we took our chances as a walk in and queued for a table.  Every inch of the interior was mirrored, bejewelled, sparkly, plush velvet fabrics,  fountains, intimate alcoves,  breathtaking and shiny Heaven. Both of us were in awe of the d...

Day 15 - Qatar, Doha city

Image
Human spotting in this new city Wowza where are the humans in this place ???? Okay, I get you're a young city and there is alot of space and you want to build the greatest of cities so the people will come, but geez this place is soulless. Take us back to Zanzibar pleeeeease! Our stop in Doha was a brain fart when we booked our trip. We thought , "yeah, let's stop a couple of days in Doha" rather than pass through the airport like we always do and let's see what it has to offer. Mental note, 1 day is plenty. Skyscrapers everywhere Firstly, the temperature was nothing like we expected and froze our backsides off. Who would have thought that 20 degree's is freezing when we have been enjoying tropical high thirties for the last 3 weeks. The point is we definitely, didn't come prepared for this cold weather at all. You can imagine the stares we received with me wearing a light cotton dress (yes, length below the knees with shoulders covere...

Day 13 & 14 Zanzibar Bye Bye

Image
Soaking up the last of the rays on this gorgeous island. This holiday has surpassed our expectations and we're delighted to have had so many incredible and awe inspiring experiences here. We're sad to be leaving , but the memories we take home will remain with us forever. Bye bye Zanzibar. Oh one last thing, not sure why we need to place our bags through so many airport xray scanners? Nothing changes in 5 metres of each scanner, and besides, the staff look everywhere but the screens! Zanzibar airport what a shambles. Next stop Doha.... The last breakfast Nope, not happy to leave  Single file please. Yeah sure !
